Semen Mikhaylovskiy is the Rector (President) of the Repin Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg, Russia, a curator, and also serves as the Chairman of the Academic Council of the Repin Academy of Arts, an art critic, architectural historian, Professor of the Department of History of Architecture and Preservation of Architectural Heritage. He is also a full member of the Russian Academy of Arts, Honorary Professor of the Moscow Architectural Institute, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, Professor of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Honorary Academician of the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin, and Honorary Academician of the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome.
Since 2015, Mikhaylovskiy has served as the Commissioner of the Russian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. He is also a member of several expert bodies, including the Committee for Urban Development of the Government of St. Petersburg, the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts, and the Organizing Committee of the St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum. In addition, Semen Mikhaylovskiy is an organizer and curator of exhibitions in Russia, China, the United States, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and Finland. He has received awards such as the Prize of the Government of the Russian Federation in the field of culture and the Order of the Star of Italy.
In terms of national and public activities, he has served as a member of the Presidential Council for Culture and Art, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Manege Central Exhibition Hall in St. Petersburg, Chairman of the Expert Council of the 7th Moscow International Biennale of Contemporary Art, a member of the Organizing Committee of the St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum, a member of the Committee for State Preservation of Cultural Heritage of the Government of St. Petersburg, and a member of the Public Council under the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the city of St. Petersburg. 1 He has also received a series of national and public awards, including a Certificate of Honor from the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation (2011), the Anatoly Koni Medal (2013), a Certificate of Honor from the Metropolitan of St. Petersburg and Ladoga (2013), a Letter of Gratitude from the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation (2014), the Order of the Star of Italy (2015), an Honorary Award from the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin (2016), a Laureate of the Prize of the Government of the Russian Federation (2017), and the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation (2019).
