The Department of Industrial Design at the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University (formerly known as the Central Academy of Arts & Crafts) will celebrate its 60th anniversary on November 8, 2024 with the theme of “ Retrospect and Prospect of China's Industrial Design Education” (60 years since the establishment of the Industrial Design major and 40 years since the renaming of the Department of Industrial Design). Not only is this 60 years the growth and development of the Department of Industrial Design of AADTHU, but also a reflection of the growing industrial design in China. Generations of industrial designers from AADTHU have adhered to the spirit of innovation and made outstanding contributions to China's industrial development, rural revitalization and socio-economic construction.
The opening ceremony of the celebration will bring together leaders of relevant departments, representatives of sister institutions, industrial experts, senior faculty members of the Department of Industrial Design, as well as alumni and current students to review the past and look forward to the future.
After the opening ceremony, the academic symposium “Design-Dream-Future” will be held, followed by the launch of an alumni art exhibition. The theme of the exhibition is “Actions Speak Louder Than Words”, and it will showcase the outstanding design achievements of all the alumni of the Industrial Design Department of AADTHU. The exhibition will run until November 25, 2024, and includes three sections: Products Design, Vehicle Design, and Display Design.
