On March 15, 2024, Tsinghua University Academy of Arts & Design hosted the opening ceremony of the "Echoes of the Fertile Land – Exhibition of Social Aesthetic Education Practice by Tsinghua University Students." This event showcases the efforts and outcomes of 16 teams from undergraduate and graduate levels across more than ten departments, including the Academy of Arts & Design, the School of Life Sciences, the School of Architecture, and the School of Law, among others.
Focused on "Inheriting Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture," "Empowering Urban and Rural Construction with Art," and "Promoting International Cultural Exchange to Build a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind," these teams engaged in a wide range of activities over the winter break. Their projects span urban and rural aesthetic enhancements, innovative explorations of excellent traditional culture, educational initiatives in science and art, and international cultural dissemination.
Participants ventured into communities with rich cultural heritages such as Lingqiu and Huizhou, enriching their growth through traditional cultural experiences and leveraging their expertise to design cultural and creative products that unearth the splendors of Chinese traditions. Others ventured into remote mountain schools to teach, spreading the spirit of Tsinghua. Some teams even went abroad, focusing on global ecological issues and cultural exchanges, painting a unified vision of human destiny.
By merging aesthetic education with ideological and political education, these social practices illuminate both the participants and the communities they serve, walking alongside beauty into the depths of rural China and the wider world.
