The 7th International Tea Culture Exchange Exhibition (Beijing Zone) and Seminar Open

The tea culture exchange in East Asia has lasted for thousands of years, and tea culture has become a bond among civilizations and a bridge of friendship. On the morning of December 14, 2019, the 7th International Tea Culture Exchange Exhibition (Beijing Zone) opened at the Art Museum of Beijing Institute of Technology (Zhongguancun Campus).  


The Exhibits


The exhibition features 130-plus works of art created by the artists from China, Japan, ROK, Kenya and Germany. The exhibits demonstrate the artists’ profound understanding about the traditional tea culture and their design concepts of going close to modern life, and manifest the high-level ceramic art that involves multiple processes and artistic considerations.


The Opening


Li He, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University attended and addressed the opening ceremony. Wang Dongsheng, Vice Dean of School of Design and Arts, and Director of Chinese Ceramic Print Art Research Center of Beijing Institute of Technology; Lillian Ayienga'a, a teacher from Multimedia University of Kenya; Shimada Fumio, Professor of Tokyo University of the Arts; Kim Byungyeoul, Professor of Dankook University of ROK; and other guests also delivered speeches successively. The Opening Ceremony was presided over by Associate Professor Yin Hang from the Department of Ceramic Design, Tsinghua University.


The Seminar


On the afternoon of December 14, 2019, the artists from various countries together with the faculty and students of the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, conducted a heated and engaging discussion in the Conference Hall at the Academy, which was presided over by Professor Zheng Ning from the Department of Ceramic Design.


The Attendees


The annual international tea culture exchange exhibition comes with its cultural mission to afford people a view of diversified innovative works of art. The terrific show of tea ceremony art by various countries demonstrates the new look in current tea culture development.
