Research Focus

1.Methodologies in Interior Design

2.Interplay Between Design and Representation

Academic Philosophy

1.Interior Design as a Human-Centered Discipline
Interior design, while rooted in architecture, intimately engages with human daily life. It serves not only as a physical shelter but also as a spiritual sanctuary. The discipline demands a tailored methodological framework to balance diverse constraints and achieve optimal outcomes. The ultimate goal of interior design is
appropriateness—harmonizing functional, aesthetic, and contextual factors through rigorous analysis and strategic integration. My research, anchored in the course Interior Design I, explores methodologies unique to interior design, aiming to refine its theoretical and practical pathways.

2.Design Representation as a Cognitive and Communicative Tool
Design representation encompasses graphic analysis, sketch ideation, perspective drawing, digital rendering, and multimedia presentation. Its dual roles include:

oConceptual Clarification: Capturing fleeting ideas and translating them into visual language to streamline the design process.

oEffective Communication: Articulating design intent to stakeholders through accessible visual and digital mediums.
Traditional pedagogy often prioritizes technical drafting (e.g., plans, elevations) over foundational
graphic thinking and emerging multimedia techniques. Through the course Design Representation III, this research seeks to innovate pedagogical strategies that enhance efficiency and clarity in environmental art education.
