Academic Claims
Ceramic art creation should integrate both art and science. Through a deep mastery of ceramic techniques, from preparing clay bodies and glazes to controlling firing temperatures and atmospheres, the hidden and exquisite beauty of craftsmanship will be fully revealed. Through the transformative power of fire acting on materials, ceramic works are endowed with decorative textures and visual effects, breathing life into the ceramics and seeking harmony between humanity and nature.
Academic Achievements
In his teaching, he has focused on in-depth theoretical research and professional practice in areas such as clay body and glaze formulation, firing techniques, and throwing skills, and has published several papers, including Oil Spot Tenmoku. His major achievements include the formulation and firing of oil-spot glaze, celadon copper-red decoration, and iron-red glaze. His works have been exhibited in numerous international and domestic ceramic art exhibitions and have been featured in various exhibition catalogues. Many of his pieces have been collected by organizations and individuals in the United States, Japan, France, Australia, and China. His main accomplishments are as follows:
1. The research on copper-red decoration in celadon has resulted in the creation of a copper-red glaze with independent intellectual property rights, which has been successfully used in firing celadon with excellent results. In the research on celadon firing techniques, visually representing the molten state of the glaze column allows for effective control of the firing temperature, resolving issues where celadon glazes either flow at high temperatures or become dry and uneven at low temperatures, due to the glaze’s narrow melting range. By optimizing the firing temperature curve and exploring reduction atmosphere firing, the aesthetic quality of the celadon glaze is significantly enhanced, resulting in a clearer, more lustrous finish and achieving excellent copper-red decoration effects.
