Recently, the award ceremony for the 6th “Hand of Wisdom”—Prix YISHU 8-Golden Phoenix China-France Craft Exchange Program was held. Established in 2019, this initiative focuses annually on a specific field of traditional Chinese handicrafts. It selects one young inheritor of Chinese craft to support their academic visit and exchange in France, aiming to broaden their professional horizons and enhance their understanding of the international craft landscape.

HUANGFU Wenxin, a 2025 MFA candidate from the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University (AADTHU), emerged as this year’s “Hand of Wisdom” winning artist after a rigorous process of nomination, preliminary review, and final evaluation. Her winning portfolio includes works such as Sempiternal and Spring Awakening. She is scheduled to depart for France this August for a residency and artistic exchange.
The jury noted in her nomination: “Huangfu Wenxin is a courageous young designer exploring the alchemy of diverse materials—resin, wood, gold, silver, gemstones, and enamel... Under her hands, these elements are restructured and reborn. Her creative process reveals a sense of rational beauty, often manifesting a rhythmic cadence of points and lines through the systematic arrangement and concatenation of elements.”

HUANGFU Wenxin is a 2025 MFA candidate at the Dept. of Arts and Crafts, AADTHU. She has been awarded the National Scholarship (2023, 2024), the Han Meilin Art Scholarship, and the Tsinghua University Comprehensive Excellence Scholarship. Her works have been featured in major exhibitions like the “Ten Thousand Miles” Graduation Exhibition (2025) and have been collected by the Academy.
