Under the guidance of Associate Professor Wang Xiaoxin, nine undergraduate students and four graduate students from Tsinghua University Academy of Arts & Design, specializing in Metal Art, Class of 2021, embarked on a transformative 14-day summer field study program in Heqing County, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. This intensive course encompassed hands-on craftsmanship, master artisan lectures, and on-site research, aimed at enhancing their skills and creativity within their respective disciplines.
Amidst the serene beauty of Dali, these students delved into the world of craftsmanship. They honed their craft, creating intricate pieces that reflected the essence of this ancient art form.
The program also provided an opportunity for students to observe the work of Master Craftsman Cun Fabiao and Master Craftsman Cun Yantong, two prominent figures in the world of Chinese metal artistry. These experiences enriched the students' understanding of the craft and its deep cultural roots.
The journey was not only about the artistry but also about the cultural exchange between the students and the local craftsmen, forging connections that transcended borders and bridged generations.
