
On the afternoon of November 2, the review meeting of the 2019 Tsinghua University Wu Guanzhong Art & Science Innovation Prize, a key part of the Fifth Art and Science International Exhibition and Symposium (TASIES 2019), was held at the National Museum of China (NMC). After two rounds of secret ballots, nine artworks were announced as winners.



The award ceremony was staged the next morning at the NMC Theater, chaired by Zhao Chao, Deputy Dean of the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, and Executive Curator of TASIES 2019. Wang Mingzhi, Senior Humanities Professor of Tsinghua University and Director of the Wu Guanzhong Art & Science Innovation Prize Fund Management Committee, introduced the evaluation process. Lu Xiaobo, Dean of the Academy of Arts & Design and chief curator of TASIES 2019 announced the winning works, which were contributed by artists from China, Turkey, the United States, Germany, Sweden, Italy and the Netherlands.

The jury was composed of Naren Barfield, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost, Royal College of Art, and Council member, Research England; Cheng Jing, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor of the Tsinghua University School of Medicine and Director of the Biochip Beijing National Engineering Research Center; Boris Debackere, artist and researcher of the LUCA School of Arts, KU Leuven, and Lab Manager of V2_; Feng Yuan, Vice President of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Honorary President of the China Artists Association and Deputy Head of the Central Research Institute of Culture and History; Luca Guerrini, urban designer and Associate Professor at the Politecnico di Milano; Liu Jude, Senior Professor in Humanities at Tsinghua University; Liu Wanming, Deputy Director of the National Museum of China; Lu Xiaobo, Dean of the Academy of Arts & Design of Tsinghua University and Vice President of the China Artists Association; Wang Mingzhi, Senior Professor in Humanities at Tsinghua University and Director of the Wu Guanzhong Art & Science Innovation Prize Fund Management Committee; Zhao Chao, Deputy Dean of the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, and Executive Head of the Tsinghua Qingdao Innovation Research Institute of Arts & Science.
