"The Spring Online Gathering 2020: A Collection of Articles and Art Pieces", an exhibition chaired by Prof. Xu Zhenglong of the Department of Sculpture of Tsinghua Academy of Arts & Design and jointly planned by Meng Xiangke, doctoral student of the Department of Sculpture, and Zhang Qiaoling, master student of Accademia di belle arti DI CARRARA, Italy, has been recently launched online. Online works, relevant verbal descriptions and comments and artist introductions will be introduced successively.
Most of the artists participating in the exhibition have studied in Tsinghua: 9 undergraduates, master candidates and doctoral students, 12 former graduates, 3 visiting scholars and 2 advanced students, including 2 overseas students. Because of the epidemic, everyone has "stayed at home" and cannot resume normal work and study, but works of art record the special periods with the convergence of common ideas.
The more than 20 works on display are mainly sculptures, as well as paintings, photos, poems and other artistic forms, presented in contemporary languages, diversified forms and special ways calling for the harmonious coexistence of human beings and nature.
In recent years, Prof. Xu Zhenglong has been advocating and practicing the concepts of "Chinese language of things" and "the way of harmony", hosting related art exhibitions and creative activities. During the pandemic, the exhibition team, concerned about current events, reflects on the relationship between human beings and nature, and uses the concept of harmony to "gather" works by the artists.
