"Your design works feature the examinations of traditions, exploration of futures, expansion of art, concerns with science and technology, caring for nature, inquiry about human nature, and thoughts about society and design ethics. The creative passion and ideological flame bursting out after freezing are irresistible with the potential of sparks starting a prairie fire. Students are fearless in forging ahead with youthful passion, which is the highest eulogy for their regretless youth."
Professor Zang Yingchun, Dean of Department of Textile and Fashion Design

Despite the many challenges imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 graduates of the Department of Textile and Fashion Design of the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University are, with their explorative inquiry and creative spirit about contemporary fashion art, always looking for more diversified ways of artistic creation to convey the thoughts of the younger generation to the society.
Rooted on tradition with a global vision, the 2020 graduates of the Department of Textile and Fashion Design of the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University draw artistic inspiration from different temporal and spatial dimensions to present nearly 100 sets of innovative and diverse fashion design works, of which some start from Chinese traditional culture to render new ideas to representative symbols such as Classics of Mountains and Seas, Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio and Hua Mulan; some focus on personal emotion and social status quo to present profound self-analysis on the theme of mindset rumination, personal identity, feminism and social personality mask, showing profound self-analysis; some, inspired by nature, take insects and animals as images of expression to embody the concept of symbiosis; and some other works integrate art and technology, introduce the concepts of four-dimensional Klein bottle and super-humanism into fashion design art, and realize the remote control of clothing by using the remote control system of programming device, leading to new clothing forms and functions.
With innovation and creation as their spiritual core, young cutting-edge designers re-examine the traditional production process, strive to present their unique design concepts with more contemporary expressive techniques, and apply cutting-edge technology, traditional handicrafts and non-wearing materials to fashion design, constantly exploring more possibilities of fashion art.
