
A/Prof. Li Jing
Upon the recommendation of schools and review of experts, A/Prof. Li Jing of the Academy of Arts and Design won the honor of "2019 Young Scholar of Distinction" after the discussion on the 31st university assembly for the academic year 2019-2020. Established in 1995, the award is the highest academic honor of the university to reward young teachers for their innovative spirit in academic research and outstanding research achievements in recent years.

Li Jing currently is an associated professor of the Department of Art and Crafts in the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University. He graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts with a bachelor's degree in 2008, and studied at the Glass Studio of Southern Illinois University in the same year, where he attained the master's degree in 2012. With his academic research directed towards the creative practice and theoretical research of contemporary glass art, Li attempts to combine glass crafts with several forms of art from techniques such as traditional glassblowing and hot-sculpting against the background of contemporary art.

As a project leader, Li Jing presided over the arts project "Research on the Modernity of Glass Art in the 20th Century" supported by the National Social Science Fund of China, the young creation project "Realm of Nature" and the communication and promotion project "Itinerant Exhibition of Chinese Contemporary Glass Art in the U.S." supported by China National Arts Fund. His works have been selected for more than 50 important academic exhibitions at home and abroad, including "The Contemporary Glass Art Triennale", "Outstanding Works Exhibition of China Contemporary Arts & Crafts Exhibition Series", "The Twelfth National Exhibition of Fine Arts" and other national exhibitions. Li won art funds from overseas institutions such as Penland School of Craft, Pittsburgh Glass Center, and Corning Museum of Glass for many times. His works have been selected by New Glass Review 35 and Art Glass Today 2, and his academic papers have been published in the national core journals like Art Research, Art Observation, Zhuangshi, and World Art.
