On Nov. 27th, 2015, Jennifer Whitty from College of Creative Arts, Massey University gave a lecture named “Space Between- A Social Enterprise for Fashion” in the Academy. Dr. ZANG Yingchun from Fashion & Textile Design Department hosted the lecture.

Jennifer Whitty explained the system of recovery, reform and resale of secondhand garments. Nowadays, the reuse of the secondhand garment is almost blank in China. This lecture expanded the students’ horizon and showed them a fresh-new perspective of fashion design.

After that, 12 students from New Zealand along with 12 students from the Academy had a workshop named “Redesign of The Secondhand Garment”. Jennifer Whitty gave brilliant comments on each work.

This academic activity is the first step of cooperation between the Academy and Massey University. It is considered as a good start for further collaboration.
