Senior Communications Manager of James Dyson Foundation Mr. Tom Moody visited Dept. of Industrial Design in the Academy. Director of the office of International Cooperation and Exchange, and Dr. ZANG Yingchun, Director of the Dept. of Industrial Design Dr. ZHAO Chao met with the guests.

Mr. Tom Moody first introduced the history, spirit of the company and foundation, and also the James Day Award. The purpose of his visit was to seek opportunities for cooperation, from the James Dyson Design Award in China, to other concrete collaborative projects with the Academy.

Director of the Dept. of Industrial Design Dr. ZHAO Chao introduced the basic situation of the Industrial Design Department and some students' work. Mr. Tom Moody highly praised the projects; he said that they were extremely consistent with the industrial design spirit of Mr. James Dyson’s, which were perseverance, invention, perfectionist, untraditional thinking and passion.

Director of the office of International Cooperation and Exchange Dr. ZANG Yingchun warmly invited Mr. James Dyson to visit the Academy and deliver the advanced industrial design concept to students. Mr. Tom Moody said he was very grateful, and he would like to promote the visit of Mr. James Dyson.

Dyson, the world's leading vacuum cleaner manufacturer, international home appliance design and manufacturing company, was founded James Dyson foundation in 1993 in UK. The foundation’s mission is to inspire young people to study engineering and become engineers by encouraging students to think differently and to make mistakes. James Dyson Award is one of the key projects of the James Dyson foundation, the award is designed to recognize the outstanding works of students and foster the next generation of engineers. The specific entry methods for 2016 haven’t been announced yet.
