On April 15, 2016, Dr. Jonathan Antonio Edelman, Head of Global Innovation Design (GID) Programme, School of Design, Royal College of Art visited the Academy. Dean LU Xiaobo, Director of Industrial Design Department Dr. ZHAO Chao, Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Office Dr. ZANG Yingchun met with the guest.

Dean LU first expressed his warm welcome to Prof. Jonathan Antonio Edelman, and thanked all parties involved for their great efforts to promoting the programme. After that, Dr. Jonathan and Dean LU exchanged in-depth views on further development and implementation of this programme.

Dr. Jonathan said that they have introduced Harvard Business School and Stanford University’s courses into GID Programme, and this kind of teaching activities could help cultivate all-around talents, enrich the students' knowledge structure. At the same time, he spoke highly of the 8 students sent to RCA from the Academy this March.

After the meeting, Dr. Jonathan gave a wonderful lecture about design thinking to the industrial design department students.

Dr. Jonathan Edelman is the Senior Tutor and Research Coordinator for Design Products at the Royal College of Art, as well as Visiting Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University.

Global Innovation Design Programme-GID is an international master’s degree programme co-organized by Royal College of Arts, Imperial College London and Tsinghua. After graduation, the students can get a Master’s Degree from the local institution and also the certificate of GID International Programme. All the institutions involved are strong in academic research and education in fileds including design, business, technology, and engineering. This programme puts students in international innovation team to train innovative thinking mode.
