French President Emmanuel Macron paid his very first visit to China from Jan. 8 to 10, 2018. This visit was intended to strengthen the strategic cooperation with China. But to the President himself, this visit was also a journey of art and culture. He visited the Terracotta Warriors in Xi’an, the Forbidden City and 798 Art District in Beijing. During his visit, he saw the sculpture In Green and decided to collect it.

Yang Yang, graduate student of 2017 of Department of Sculpture, created the sculpture. This work shows a boy in mediation, breathing and looking up into the sky. His hands cling to the sides of his body, and his body is very straight. It seems that he is unwilling to be bound and expresses his thought on destiny and his sadness. However, this work is more about the eagerness for living, for the juvenile also looks at the branches and goshawk. Even if life is as difficult as it is, people can still look at the bright side and lead the life they want to live.
