Mark Hart from Cambridge School of Art is Invited to Give Lectures in the Academy

On March 17th & March 19th, 2015, Mark Hart from Cambridge School of Art gave lectures named “Materiality & Fashion”, “Visual Research for Design” in the Fur Art Lab. Director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange Dr. Zang Yingchun hosted the lectures. In total, more than 70 students attended the lectures.

 

As a cutting-edge fashion designer and senior lecturer, Mark Hart advised to find new materials in the unnoticed parts of interior and environment, or to seek for deep meanings of traditional materials through deconstruction, venturing, and reproducing to make novel fashion garments. Mark stressed that “Research” is the foundation of creation, and systematically presented the method of visual research. He told the students how to approach creation by altering perspectives in 2D, 3D and embodying research.

 

Mark graduated with an MA in Fashion Design (Fashion Women’s wear) from Central Saint Martin's College of Art & Design. After graduation, Mark has exhibited work as part of London Fashion Week and successfully worked as a freelance women’s wear and knitwear designer, stylist, and creative pattern cutter for a variety of national and international brands. Previously appointed as Course Leader in Foundation Art & Design (Fashion & Textiles) at Oxford Brookes University, and lecturer in Fashion Illustration at Kingston University, he specializes in surface textiles, pattern cutting and 3D design realization.
