On June 10, 2015, delegation led by Chancellor of Massey University Prof. Chris Kelly, vice-chancellor of College of Creative Arts Ms. Clair Robinson, Creative Director of Weta Workshop Sir Richard Taylor, all together over ten people visited the Academy. Vice President XIE Weihe and Deputy Dean ZHANG Gan met with the guests and gave them a tour of labs in the academy.

Visiting the Academy is part of their 5 days’ schedule in China, which is under invitation of Mrs PENG Liyuan, the first lady of Chinese President XI Jinping. The aim is to learn about the education of arts in China and to build connections for future cooperation.

The delegation visited the Fiber Art Lab, Transportation Design Lab, Ceramic Art & Design Lab, Metal Art Lab and Clay Sculpture Lab. They were very impressed by the traditional basic lessons together with the world’s leading achievements in China’s contemporary arts education. After one hour’s visit, Prof. Chris Kelly and Sir Richard Taylor invited the students and professors of the Academy to visit New Zealand in the near future, and start a chapter of cooperation.
