Academic Claims
Printmaking techniques are one of the methods available for artistic creation, but they are not the only option. Printmaking creation requires a grounded mindset, using simple techniques to genuinely express inner feelings. It should not focus on seeking novelty or trying to come up with “new,” “strange,” or “quirky” techniques just for the sake of innovation.
Academic Achievements
His works have been featured in numerous prestigious exhibitions both in China and abroad. His works were selected for the 9th, 10th, and 11th National Exhibition of Fine Arts consecutively, as well as the 5th and 6th Beijing International Art Biennale. They were also featured in the Imprint of the Times - China Hundred Jinling Painting Exhibition (Printmaking), the Chinese Printmaking Exhibition, and the China Youth Prints Exhibition.
He co-authored the textbook Printmaking, which was published in 2005, and received the Second Prize for Outstanding Higher Education Textbooks in Beijing in 2006. In 2014, he published the monograph Case Studies on Faculty of the Department of Painting, Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University - Wen Zhongyan, followed by Introduction of Painting in 2015. He has published several academic papers, including “Anxiety, Overlay, Gaze - On Wen Zhongyan’s ‘City’ Series” in Art, “Reflections on Printmaking Education at the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University” in Art in China, and “A Dialogue Between Certainty and Uncertainty” and “Nostalgia - Reflections on the Works of Wen Zhongyan” in Printmaking.
In addition, he has published works multiple times in academic journals such as Art, Art Research, ZHUANGSHI, Chinese Printmaking, Printmaking, and Tsinghua Art. His works are housed in prestigious art museums and cultural institutions, including the National Art Museum of China, the CAFA Art Museum, the National Centre for the Performing Arts, Today Art Museum, Jiangsu Art Museum, Hubei Art Museum, Guizhou Art Museum, Chongqing Art Museum, Beijing Artists Association, Art Museum of Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, China Printmaking Museum, Guangzhou Art Museum, Qingdao Art Museum, Guan Shanyue Art Museum, Shenzhen, Dalian Zhongshan Art Museum, and the Museum Ludwig in Germany.

He curated and hosted the 14th National Printmaking Teaching and Creation Annual Conference of Art Colleges in 2018. This conference was held for the first time at a comprehensive university. The successful hosting of the Printmaking Annual Conference and the various events of the Tsinghua Printmaking Art Festival demonstrated Tsinghua University's commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration, the integration of arts and sciences, and its emphasis on art education. It showcased the academic profile of the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, and the unique features of its printmaking teaching, enhancing and expanding the inclusive and diverse academic philosophy of the Academy.

Teaching
In recent years, he has primarily taught over ten undergraduate courses, including Silk Screen Print, Fundamentals of Silk Screen Print, Silk Screen Printmaking Techniques, Printmaking Professional Language Training, Professional Investigation, Professional Practical Research, and Graduation Design (Creation). He has also taught the graduate course Silk Screen Print and the university experimental inquiry course Silk Screen Printmaking Art. He has supervised 16 graduate students and 3 doctoral students. 11 of his graduate students have successfully graduated.
