At 9 a.m., March 13, a special group homework report was conducted online by Prof. Qiu Song of Tsinghua Academy of Arts & Design. Prof. Qiu was then still stranded in Wuhan because of the COVID-19 epidemic. Overcoming many difficulties, Prof. Qiu offered online guidance to his students, and completed teaching in a different way. The 28 students who participated in the final homework report were also scattered around the world, including 5 international students from Japan, the Republic of Korea, Venezuela and Malaysia.
This was a multi-site and even multi-national group homework report, with the projects focusing on "Vacant Lot on Tsinghua University Campus", the modeling of the building space as the research object to design a group of temporary building space suitable for the quarantine of teachers and students returning to Beijing from key epidemic areas. The projects were presented by video.

At the class report open class, Prof. Qiu and the teaching assistant adopted two platforms to broadcast live together after testing. Tencent Conference was used to share slides; "Dou Yu" was used to watch videos made by students. The teaching assistant kept making platform switching reminders in the chat area. When a group completed their homework report, real-time comments could be delivered on the spot.
The students' homework was highly praised by the teachers who participated in the review. The quality of their homework did not decline, instead, it was delivered in in time, overcoming the geographical limitation in group cooperation. Prof. Qiu noted that in this special period, the standard of homework for this course was by no means lowered. He encouraged everyone to use local materials to make models, and some students also enhanced their visual effects props bought online. This homework was completed by a four-person team, requiring preliminary research and model making, and production of presentation and video reports.

3-D Modeling Foundation -2
Instructor: Qiu Song
Time: From 9: 00 to 12: 00 a.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday (February 17 to March 13, four weeks)
Target students: 2019 undergraduate students of the Department of Information Art Design
This course is to train students to feel and explore the way of space form composition on the basis of their existing knowledge of three-dimensional form. According to the division characteristics of spatial form, teaching is conducted from four perspectives of central, horizontal, vertical and inner and outer space limitation respectively. Through a large number of pictorial examples, students can understand the complementary relationship between spatial form and entity form. However, students not only learn the cognitive and design methods of spatial form, but also exercise the ability of independent learning. When facing unfamiliar problems, students can actively think and explore and get used to solving problems in the process of hands-on practice and cooperation.
The ultimate aim of the course is to let students think about specific problems and then work out logical design ideas and implement them through preliminary research.

Remarks on Group Cooperation

Shi Nuoyi's Group:
When cooperating, we need to integrate our independent thinking patterns and then apply them to the final design. When we collaborate, we find that some group members are more accustomed to thinking about each step before making the model, while others are more accustomed to thinking and adding new ideas while making it. Additionally, we also need to learn some new skills, such as cutting videos and post-production.
Qiu Shihan's Group:
We held "Tencent Conference" meetings to communicate the progress of our major homework. Our meetings often lasted until 1 or 2 am. Just because we can't get together to do homework as before, the importance of cooperation is more highlighted. We should not only do our individual job well, but also learn to effectively convey ideas and opinions to other members.
