"Advertising Design", a course directed by Professor Ma Quan and Associate Professor Gu Xin from the Department of Visual Communication of Tsinghua Academy of Arts & Design, has recently been completed online. This course was opened in an unusual period and ends with unusual homework projects. Students were encouraged to take part in public activities to combat the COVID-19 epidemic through public service advertisement design, so as to achieve the linkage effect of courses, events, personal experience, public service intervention and social involvement.

According to current events, the two teachers assigned a design homework project, requiring the students to pay attention to the severe situation of the global epidemic of the novel coronavirus epidemic. The students were asked to create graphic commonweal advertisements on the theme of combating the epidemic, from various aspects such as scientific epidemic prevention, returning to work and resuming production, and restoring confidence, so as to not only contribute to the society, but also keep a special record of participation in the combat against the epidemic.

Under the guidance of the two teachers, the students have learned a lot. While completing the homework they have not only acquired the basic knowledge of advertisement design, but also took seriously reflected on the epidemic and considered the role and significance of design in fighting against the "epidemic".
He Lixing of Art-Class 74 noted, "Without the guidance of this course, I might have just glanced over the relevant reports, instead of having a deeper understanding and analysis of the epidemic and thinking about how to record the incident visually."
Zhang Sitian of Art-Class 75 said that even in the same general environment of fighting against the novel coronavirus epidemic, different people still live very different lives. While they were able to attend classes as usual thanks to the efforts of teachers and schools, others were experiencing illness and even losing their loved ones. This was a pain that could never be forgotten. She hoped that community commonwealth design could help victims return to normal life and soothe their trauma. Zhang Sitian therefore named her work "Don't Forget While Moving Forward".
The course "Advertising Design" for the students is over, but the joint efforts to fight against the "epidemic" are still continuing. The process of brainstorming, the sketches for their homework and the final drafts have become all special memories of this special period.
