Graphic Design is a basic professional course for sophomores of undergraduate programs in the Department of Visual Communication, Academy of Art and Design, Tsinghua University. The target of the course is to cultivate students' capability for graphic thinking and design. The course in this semester is designed with three chapters of emotions, right and wrong as well as paean with a purpose of inspiring students to explore society and self-growth under current special circumstances.

In the Emotions chapter, the instructors asked students to finish a project of graphic design under the theme of "Tsinghua Campus in My Heart." Buildings, plants and designs in the projects embody students' inner world. More than any other time, they were sentimentally attached to campus life, and longing for normal study. Through the project, students also experienced the power of emotions in art creation.

Project Introduction

Buildings of note abound in Tsinghua campus, a place with cultural profundity. Students designed many guide signs for the convenience of campus life and tourists' visiting. In addition, some others designed functional signs for departments, campus activities and sports facilities.

When doing this design inspired by campus life,

I found everyone has their own way of thinking and unique style.

The course means an enlightening training in terms of graphic creative thinking to me.

I had been used to express themes with illustration, and the instructor brought me out of this box and inspired me to try graphics that are more concise and powerful.

With dedicated eyes, we can find graphics are ubiquitous in everyday life.
