The Cultural Turn of the Contemporary Chinese Heavy-colored Painting

Academic Standpoints:

The soon rise of the contemporary Chinese heavy-colored painting is a simple act that speaks complex and rich phenomena. As one of the key fields of study of arts history, the study of the contemporary Chinese heavy-colored painting, with rich and colorful connotation and denotation, is closely tied up with the academic thoughts in contemporary times.

Ye holds the standpoints that one should study the following questions by taking the rise of the contemporary Chinese heavy-colored painting as the starting point.

Track the relationship between the contemporary Chinese heavy-colored painting and traditional Chinese color painting by studying the historic concepts, historic forms and the contemporary rise and development of the heavy-colored painting, and explain the complex competition between the contemporary Chinese and modern Western art;

By taking inheritance and transformation as the breakthrough point, study the difference between the production of traditional wall painting and background color of heavy-colored painting, in particular painting structure, color-centered pen and ink language, systematic development of heavy-colored pigment, aesthetic presentation of heavy-colored materials, and harmonious and unified color and texture; and differentiate and analyze the essential value of the contemporary Chinese heavy-colored painting by breaking through from both the language and technical forms of the contemporary Chinese heavy-colored painting;

Discuss the cultural ecology, cultural value as well as the cultural diversity of the contemporary Chinese heavy-colored painting by analyzing the cultural turn from elitist aesthetic taste into taste of general public, and from collective experience into self experience.
