Academic Standpoints

Visual tension and connotation are the nature and essence that the contemporary art focuses on and the core to empower the artworks. The in-depth exploration to visual art of contemporary ink paintings aims to develop the traditional Chinese paintings, break through excessively stylized limitations of traditional Chinese ink paintings in the concept, composition, form, vision and brush style, eliminate the disadvantage that traditional ink painting can only be appreciated at short distance, strengthen the visual tension and cultural taste of traditional Chinese ink paintings, reflect characteristics of the times of Chinese national art, thus establishing the academic position of Chinese ink painting art in international contemporary art.

The research on Chinese contemporary ink painting art will be bound to bring emotional shock to all people. But such emotional shock is not limited to the creation of artistic conception and space, but also include the review of history and modern connotation of contemporary ink paintings. This presents a perfect combination of tradition, subtle emotion as well as poetic and dreamy conception, and reflects the academic height, precision of creation, emotional depth and cultural purity.

Flexible art can thrive while the inflexible one doom. Changes in artworks depend on many comprehensive factors, such as artists’ artistic idea,

aesthetics, value, artistic perception and expression skills etc. Only when artists prioritize cultural cultivation and accumulation can innovation survive.

As for the research on contemporary ink painting art, it is necessary to have a perfect combination of elements from China and the world as well as traditional and contemporary elements. In addition, we should integrate Chinese and Western advantages, adhere to vivid artistic conception and impressionistic style of traditional Chinese ink painting art, learn visual elements (proportion and composition etc.) from western paintings, pay more attention to cultural spirit and original expression, exploit new space of expression for contemporary ink paintings, and put our national cultural art at an important position in the international contemporary art from perspectives of art and culture.
