1983 Graduated from Guangdong Broadcasting and Television School majoring in jounalism.
1983-1988 Worked as a program editor, deputy director and editor in the social education department of Guangdong TV station.
1992 Graduated from Chiyoda Institute of Art and Technology majoring in advertising photography in Tokyo.
1996 BA in photography, Nihon University in Tokyo.
1998 MA in photography, Nihon University in Tokyo.
2000 Lectured large format photography and advertising photography in Beijing Film Academy.
2002-2011 Associate professor of Beijing Film Academy.
2011-2012 Associate professor of Academy Arts & Design, Tsinghua University.
2013-2016 Professor of Academy Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, Master supervisor.
2016-now Professor of Academy Arts & Design, Tsinghua University, doctoral supervisor.
Research Interests
Theory and application of Large Format Photography.
Theory and application of high quality photography production techniques, silver salt image long-term preservation processing.
Academic Opinion
Photography falls under the category of plastic arts, but it is essentially different from painting, sculpture and other plastic arts, it has an unique concept and way of creation. Every photography work with beautiful tone and far-reaching artistic conception is based on the camera and photographic materials. The photographer uses photography techniques, gives full play to the artist's thinking, and reproduces or displays his or her intuitive reality on photographic materials such as photo paper. In recent years, with the rapid development of science and technology, the traditional analog camera, photographic materials have been gradually replaced by digital cameras and digital imaging technologies, photography ushered in a new era of change. On the other hand, it is proved that photography is a both traditional and modern media which combines technical innovation and artistic expression. Looking back on the development history of photography technology, we have experienced many major technological innovations in the past 180 years. Today, when photographers talk about making images with traditional or digital methods or both, the discussion of this methodology has no more influence and change on the nature, attribute and connotation of photography. To return to the classical craft and explore the extreme quality of silver salt image, or to create image with new digital technology are both worth us to discuss and deeply study.

2004 The folk houses in southern Anhui-a world cultural heritage，Best Photograpphy Award of China's Word Heritage, National Photography Art Exhibition.
2006 Awarded the title of "Outstanding Contributor to China's photography since the founding of the PRC" by China Photographyers Association.
