Application of Interactive Technology
Based on study over specific methods to achieve information interaction, the research on application of interactive technology provides solutions in such areas as technology, algorithm, and procedures during the process of information interaction. While the research can be applied in a wide variety of areas, Xian’s focus is mainly on the research and development of relevant interactive technology in three areas including social networking services, digital entertainment design ad high-tech exhibition design.
The research on application of interactive technology should be oriented to the design methods in order to satisfy the practical needs and specific situations to achieve integration of the design contents and existing technologies, or trigger technological innovations by creative designs.

III. Research Projects
As a chief member, Xian Feng has participated in and completed research in several projects in humanities and social science including “Building Digital Entertainment Design Curriculum and Cultivating Inter-disciplinary Talents in Comprehensive University” supported by the Ministry of Education, and “Research on Interactive Design for Intangible Cultural Heritage” supported by Tsinghua University. With emphasis on the projects of teaching and practical research in cross-disciplinary areas, Xian has made creative research achievements in the digital entertainment design as well as in interactive design, leading the specialized areas nationwide.
Currently Xian Feng undertakes the research of “IPv6 Upgrading of College Digital Museums”, the sub-project of IPv6 Technological Upgrading and Application Model of Education and Scientific Research Infrastructure which is part of a longitudinal project funded by the Ministry of Education, i.e. 2008 Commercial Test of Next Generation Internet Business and Equipment Industrialization. Xian is the chief member of the research and project contact.
IV. Scientific Research and Development
Arduino physical computing board, a self-developed product integrating hardware and software, is designed to support interactive electronic sensors in high-tech exhibitions. Suitable for programming and extending, it has offered technological solutions for projects in various museums and interactive exhibitions including:

1.Interactive Technology I: a specialized core course in the Department of Information & Art Design aimed to enable the students to grasp basic skills in interactive technology.
2.Interactive Technology II: a specialized advanced course in the Department of Information & Art Design aimed to enable the students to grasp advanced skills in interactive technology.
3.Information Structure Design: a specialized core course in the Department of Information & Art Design aimed to enable the students to understand and grasp basic methods of information structure design and to provide a basis for advanced design courses.
4.VB Script: a specialized core course in the Department of Information & Art Design aimed to enable the students to understand and grasp basic methods of script programming and to provide a basis for learning interactive effects in advanced design courses.
5.Appreciation of Digital Entertainment Works: a selective course in the Department of Information & Art Design aimed to enable the students to understand the history of digital entertainment design, to understand and put into practice the procedures and methods of digital entertainment design, to be more able to appreciate digital entertainment products.
6.Interactive Technology in Games: a specialized course for second degree in digital entertainment design, aimed to enable the students to understand the interactive technologies commonly used in games and to grasp basic skills of interactive technology in games.
7.Game Programming: a specialized course for second degree in digital entertainment design, aimed to enable the students to grasp a programming language for games and offer guidance to students to develop a Demo using the language.
