Research Area:

Traditional Chinese Hand Craftsmanship and Lacquer Culture Revival

Academic Viewpoint:

A lot of traditional Chinese handicrafts carry excellent cultural connotation. However, adversely affected by the market economy, many sub-segments of handicraft art have undergone the difficulties because of the losses of materials or resources, limited varieties, lifelessness and backwardness of production and business models. This is also true for Chinese lacquer art which bears a long history and contains profound culture. We carry out researches on cultural revival from the perspective of intangible cultural heritage and take traditional Chinese lacquer culture as the starting point. We combine the academic research and commercialization of lacquer culture so as to explore the model and experience for restructuring the handicrafts industry.
