Research Interest:

System Research on Planning and Management of Environmental Art

Academic Proposition:

Environmental Art plays an important role in the development of modern society as it not only changes the environmental features, but also affects a series of aspects such as lifestyle, working pattern, and management style, etc. In practice, the designers may confront different situations, including urban planning, architectural design, landscape design, interior design, furnishing design, and graphic design, etc., and they may also need to deal with integrated operation and management of such designs. In order to overcome the limitations and unicity of different designers, it is necessary to look at comprehensive planning and management from a macro perspective. We endeavor to foster a group of elites on design planning and project management with a broad horizon and comprehensive organizational skills to formulate guidelines and plans for environmental art in the future. At the same time, to build our civilization, we also actively seek design orientation, which is sustainable, sustainable and based on rules of nature.

My research includes two areas.

In the broad sense, we, as designers, must have a comprehensive understanding on the community and human culture on which environmental art rely, stick to the cultural style, and identify the development trend. We should design for the future and for the nature. To do so, we must welcome criticism, study the hidden danger of design in the fast developing world, arouse concerns of the society, and lay a solid foundation for design. In this way, we can better serve the people’s needs.

In the narrow sense, we should also study specific cases in the following ways.

The first stage is planning, i.e. to study and understand design from different perspectives, approaching the problem from the perspective of the investors, users, and administers of a design project. At the same time, we should establish an evaluating system, examine the feasibility of designs, specify the practical and scientific environmental design pattern, identify the goals of designs, and outline the blueprint based on the understanding of the whole society. In this way, we can provide a solid foundation for the individual and systematic design in the next step.

The second stage is management, which focuses on the way to carry out the design planning. It includes the design content, scope and extent of the design, duration, cost, presentation, as well as the coordinating method. We need to analyze and study specific cases, establish trade or management manuals, and provide constructive suggestions for the social development. We also need to provide the constructors of cities with references for examination, give standard and scientific guidelines to designers, reduce the lost of inadequate designs, and make design a key method to solve problems, to fulfill functions, to provide convenience, and to make life more beautiful.
