Academic Proposition:

1. Concept, research background and status quo of research

“Complexity thinking” is one of the subjects of interest for academic circles.

“Complexity thinking” is the opposite to “simplicity thinking”. The study and emergence of the theory aim at proving that: in the face of such a complex situation with information explosion, prevalent digital development, infinite network extension and all kinds of intertwined and constantly changing social things such as politics, economy, religion and philosophy, general methods of understanding and customary modes of thinking can on longer cope with or solve so many chaotically complex issues.

Along with the emergence of quantum mechanics in the 20th century, fuzziness and uncertainty have gradually replaced the determinism and the simple thinking of returning to the original cause and effect has been greatly affected. It was in such a situation that “complexity thinking” arose. The theory, more about the relationship between unity and diversity, emphasizes the study of the relationship of interdependence, interaction and mutual feedback between object of cognition and background, part and the whole and between different parts. It is the opposite of simplicity thinking and expresses a characteristic of irreducibility. Issues including "emergence", "fractal", "disorder" and "synergy" are the priorities in the study of the present complexity theory.

2. Content, thinking and method of research

In fact, whether we admit or not, “complex" is all around us, and regardless of our will, we will consciously or unconsciously be involved in the ferocious complex swirling flow of art. Art concepts and art forms have undergone huge changes to the extent that we often do not know where are the art museums, who are the artists, what are artworks and how to define the boundary between art and life. Perhaps we can draw support from the “complexity thinking" to re-examine those new ideas constantly "emerging" in the emotional world where activities of human mind are most sensitive and rich. We can have a renewed understanding of those “occasional” phenomena through “chaotic”, comprehensive, intertwined and interconnected thinking, carefully observe and look for hidden orders similar to" fractal " behind things and follow the link up those bits and pieces of hints. Maybe it can guide us in looking into the real track of development.

Zhang focuses his attention on the following aspects

- Look at the relationship between whole body and parts in a layered and associative way

The form of non-linear association may be the normal state of things.

®. Appreciation of occasionality can help us better understand art

¯Manufacturing of disorder and blind spots in art

°"Fractal" has rich and varied expressions in modern art
