Academic Propositions:

China and developed countries in the West all have long histories and splendid apparel culture, and are important spiritual and material resources of human development and progress, which worth being cherished and studied. We should neither underestimate nor overestimate ourselves. We should treat the cultural differences with the objective point of view of historical materialism. When learning from foreign cultures, we should try to explore and carry forward our own national culture, thus making contributions to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

The Chinese culture, with the distinctive features of the Confucian culture and integration of Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism and other cultural personalities, has a long history and a complete system and affects neighboring countries by playing a significant role in the development process of Asian (especially East Asian, Northeast Asian, and Southeast Asian) and the world civilization and culture.

The Western world with Christian as its core, particularly the big powers rising since the Renaissance, have inherited civilizations in ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, Rome and other ancient countries and have gone through a series of major changes like industrial revolution. With great achievements in ideology, system, science and technology and other fields, they have greatly influenced and promoted the course of human history.

In today's world with economic integration and domination of strong cultures, it is very important to compare the apparel cultures of above two cultural circles, objectively analyze the development rules of various cultures, and explore the internal and external reasons of their development and changes. The reason is that such studies have important academic value and positive practical significance for furthering understanding of local culture, character and values, enhancing national confidence, and consciously promoting and developing the local culture.
