The year 2020 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Finland and China. On August 16, the logo for the 70th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Finland and China was officially launched.
This logo aims to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Finland and China. Affected by the pandemic, the Finnish Embassy in China has transferred a series of activities to major social media, and it is necessary to design a visual image system in Finnish, Chinese and English and suitable for spread on network. The Finnish Embassy in China has cooperated with the Tsinghua Academy of Arts & Design to let Yang Ling (Malaysian), a graduate student of the Department of Visual Communication Design, complete the logo design.

Design details of the logo
In the design conception, the author focuses on two aspects. First, Finland is celebrated as "Land of a Thousand Lakes" for its numerous lakes. Second, since ancient times, there have been many wise sayings in China that use "water" as a metaphor for interpersonal communication. In this design, Yang Ling creates the images of "water" and "lake" with curves and levels, enhanced with Finland's representative blue color and concise shapes, endowing the design with the meaning that "bosom friends within the four seas are close neighbors though separated by oceans," and symbolizing the friendly exchanges between the two countries.
