Feng Fan


Feng Fan, Ph.D. Assistant Professor,

Feng Fan is the Assistant Professor at Department of Painting in Academy of Arts & Design, faculty of The Institute of Contemporary Art, Tsinghua University.  Feng Fan, trained as a visual artist, has exhibited work across China, the U.S. and Japan. Feng’s works are in several public collections and he has produced a number of public art commissions around China.

 

Education:

2002 B.A.   Sichuan Fine Arts Institute

2016 Ph.D.  Tsinghua University              

 

Fellowship:

His Ph.D dissertation “The Mythological Theme Paintings of Cy Twombly” has been awarded the “Eastern Asian Fellowship” by ARIAH (Association of Research Institutes of Art History), and his will undertake a 3 month residency in Smithsonian Society in Washington D.C. and American Academy at Rome in 2017.

 

Academic Teaching:

Feng Fan is a major initiator of an academic exchange residency program between the Department of Art, University at Buffalo, and The Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University. This program is a biennial cross-culture collaboration with MFA and Ph.D. students from both universities in the form of artworks, exhibitions and publications. The courses he is currently teaching include “Basic Training of Comprehensive Artistic Language”, “Comprehensive Material Painting” and “Public Art”.
